Case Study 5
The Bulky Goods Retailers Association (BGRA) is the peak national body representing the interests of bulky goods retailers, owners, developers, agents and service providers in Australia. In the financial year ending 30th June 2010, sales of bulky goods merchandise was estimated to be $57 billion nationally representing 21.2% of all retail sales.
The BGRA is a key stakeholder in planning and zoning laws that regulate the retail market sector. Planning laws are governed by the States and there is currently no uniform approach to defining bulky goods retailing yet the majority of retailers are national companies.
Blueprint act as consultants to the BGRA in undertaking submissions to Government on a national, state and local level. The BGRA is primarily focused on planning policies and strategies that affect proposed development in the retail sector
